Blonde or not blonde?

1.  AJ thinks Sadie isn't going to be a blonde. I think he is crazy. He keeps saying the back of her head has darker hair. I keep arguing that it is shadows. Drew had such a round head all around that there weren't many shadows. She has a round head, but not that round. Also, he was super tan and white hair showed up even more. It is hard getting a picture of the back of a wiggle butt's head.

2. We own no winter clothes. We probably will need some at some point soon, but I am at a loss.

3. We had to make an emergency "Drew has no long pants that fit" run to the store. His 4ts are 0.5" too short. His 5ts are 2" too long. I thought I could pick up 6s and he could grow into them, but they are 3" longer than 5ts. There is only so much cuff rolling I can do.

4. Sadie almost got pink cowboy boots, but wound up with rain boots instead.

5. We have hit toddler pucks out clothes stage. Today was turquoise Alice in Wonderland shirt, Gator windbreaker, grey cord pants, and grey/ black striped long shorts. She tried to wear her tap shoes but at the last minute decided she like her dark blue tennis shoes better. This stage makes me cringe in public, but it is cute and that is what should matter.

6. Sometimes Drew thinks we need selfies before we get out of bed. Also, I can only guess what is smeared on my case to make the camera that hazy.

Mr. Bubbles

1. Mr. Bubbles should make a cologne. I would buy it for AJ.
2.  Some meltdowns are going to happen because I forget to feed Drew for longer than 4 hours. He is the reverse of the cute cuddly in Gremlins. Gremlin while hungry and cute cuddly when fed. Well, cuddly is a stretch, but still.
3. Sometimes I still have computer problems that make AJ have to stop and think.
4. I need to accept I shouldn't look for glasses that aren't bug glasses. Cute ones while cute allow too much glare from lenses (even with anti glare film) and frames too much glare.

Cute but glare-y:

Mildly cute, but more bug like:

We have been working on purging our house of all the excess clutter and stuff.  We have technically been working on this for the last year, but it seems to keep going and going.  I am starting to think we could have itemized our taxes and hit a higher deduction with all the stuff we have take to goodwill.

So far, we have done Drew's room, the dining room, and the guest bathroom.

Drew's room is partially what inspired the hardcore purge. His behavior got so bad one day and his room had been a disaster for a long time. AJ took Drew and Sadie to a park. I took a bunch of black garbage bags to his room. Everything that wasn't nailed down was taken out, pictures and extra blankets and pillows included. I didn't throw anything away that wasn't trash, but everything was gone. When he got home I was prepared for a massive melt down, especially when he discovered his Reacue Bots were "on vacation".

His reaction was a totally different one than I bought it would be. He ran to me and kept saying "thank you, momma" and "this is the best". He was so excited "Sadie can come play in my room" and "my cousins can come back and play in my room now." His cousins had been down for Christmas and they hadn't even been allowed into his room.

The other surprising side effect has been that his behavior has been great. He hasn't had as many meltdowns and in three weeks he hasn't had a time out   He has also been able to focus more on almost everything. School has even been going better. I would have never been able to guess what just purging his room would have done for him.

About a week later we gave him back his Reacue Bots and then a few days later we put all of his and Sadie's toys back into their toy box. The only toys that stayed out fit in that box, except Duplos and Legos. I have been amazed at how much both the kids play in there.

This big of change made us wonder if having that little clutter around him made his brain more at ease. So, we decided that maybe this theory would help us as a family, too. I wish I could say we have made a huge amount of progress, but along with the decluttering we are also working on a major house project list of fixing and updating items.

In the dining room I got the china cabinet and buffet cleaned out of the stuff that we don't want or need. There wasn't as much that came out of them, but what little was taken out freed up a lot of room. I am super happy that all of my vintage table cloths now fit into the buffet so that they are useable and not tucked away in a pile of stuff in the linen closet.

Sick days

Sick days make everyone cranky.  The kiddos want more attention and snuggles and I don't want to be touched.  I am glad it happened on a weekend and AJ is home.

Seeing Life Again

I am giving myself a challenge. I want to write something every day. It isn't going to be a big post, but just life. I miss that snapshot of life. I am hoping it gives me a better big picture view and less lost in the day to day mundane.

1. The way Sadie says she wants food or drink or to nurse is to walk up and open her mouth and say "aaahhhh!"

2. Drew likes figuring out how to spell words and then write sentences with those words. He hates writing the letters over and over again.

3. We are supposed too have a weekend of cold weather. I want to be able to wear my new knit dalek hat.

4. Sadie's happy spot is in a swing.

5. While D inherited AJ's dimple, he inherited my thinking face.
