Welcome to Day 7 of 31 Projects: House to Home 2013!
Last year we added on to our patio a laundry room. When we bought the house it was just a closet on the porch that had the washer and dryer. It wasn't functional and awkwardly laid out. AJ built it out to go all the way to the end of the patio on that side of the house. Well, it had turned into a dumping ground for all kinds of "stuff".

It just wasn't working for us, and doing laundry was a pain because I kept tripping on stuff. The shed wasn't any better. The reason both of these count as one project is because they are joined. We needed to clean one out to do the other. So, we hauled out all the stuff in the laundry room and from the shed.

Now that everything was out we spent the afternoon sorting through it. I had gotten some plastic bins from our neighbor who was moving, they were all the same shape, color, and brand! We sorted the stuff to keep into these new bins for the shed and labeled everything. Then we sorted everything that needed to stay in the laundry room into clear plastic bins and labeled them. We got rid of a trunk load of stuff!
While all the stuff was out of the laundry room, AJ installed a window that my dad had given us. It really helped open the room up and provide some much needed light. We also put in a window fan to add to air circulation.
Then we re-purposed some shelves what had already built into the laundry room. This gave us a much better way to store the nicely new organized bins. We decided to keep camping supplies, paint supplies, car supplies, and yard toys in the laundry room. The shed turned into more "less frequent" stuff, like seasonal decorations and bigger yard stuff.

When we started the day, you could barely walk into the laundry room and we had to unpack the whole shed to see the back wall. Now, there is room to move around in both and see exactly what we have. I makes me happy.
