What's For Dinner Jan 16 - Jan 22, 2010?


Last week seemed to be a real hit or miss kind of week meal plan-wise.  We ran out of cooking oil of any kind in our house - no olive oil, no coconut oil, and no vegetable oil.  I refused to go to the store, so I had to improvise on some of the meals.  It turned out ok, but I didn't stick to the meal plan.  Weeks like that make me very thankful we always have something in the pantry or freezer to cook.

Also, we are almost at the end of our month (AJ gets paid monthly and on an off day), so our grocery budget was really small this week.  I had $17 in the food category left when I went to Publix.  We normally run on a small budget, but that is ridiculous even for us.  It wouldn't be that small normally, but we made a Sam's run earlier this month which wasn't in the budget.  Luckily, we have a "Blow Budget" category! YAY!!!  Well, all total the groceries cam in at $36.95.  So, not to horrible for a full week, under our normal $50 a week, but over the $17 we had.

Sunday: 
Dinner - lasagna, bread, salad 

Monday:

Lunch - lasagna and bread
Dinner - beef stew over mashed potatoes 
 
Tuesday:
 Lunch - beef stew over mashed potatoes
Dinner - cranberry chicken and crockpot sweet potatoes

Wednesday:
Lunch - cranberry chicken and crockpot sweet potatoes
Dinner -chicken and broccoli baked potatoes

Thursday:
Lunch - chicken and broccoli baked potatoes
Dinner - leftovers or dinner at a friend's house

Friday:
Lunch -  leftovers aka "find your own meal" 
Dinner - pork roast, rice and gravy, and peas
 
Saturday:
 Lunch -  leftovers or sandwich and chips
Dinner - BBQ pork sandwiches, baked beans, and corn
